So — been on this thing for something like six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me the other day. I’m in the UK, mostly do football and horses, small stakes, so take it how you like.
What got me on it was actually pretty stupid — I could never work out what an each way return would be with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just eyeball it and get a shock. These days I type the odds in before I place anything, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator is the one I’m on daily — type in your stake, the odds and it spits out profit and total return straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — acca and treble returns, lucky 15s, yankees, and that’s where most people I know mess it up. One thing that actually changed how I bet is the more serious extras. There’s an odds-to-probability converter that shows the overround, and a kelly criterion calculator — I use half kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutching one gets used a fair bit when I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. Its interface feels pretty plain — not much flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it works but the bigger tables make you pinch and zoom. Also there’s no proper app, it’s browser only — fine by me but you asked.
Anyway. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does what it says. Anyone who even now works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saves me plenty of “wait, that’s it?” moments.
