OK — been using this thing for something like a few months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d write something up since a mate asked me the other day. Am UK based, mostly do football and horses, a fiver here and there, for context.

The reason I started using it was actually pretty stupid — I could never figure out what an ew return actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just eyeball it and get a shock. These days I type the odds in before every slip, even a straight one-selection punt.

Their single bet calculator tool is the bit I use most — you put in the price and your stake and it shows returns straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15s, patents and yankees, which is where most people I know got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it’s over at ew calculator and it’s free with no account nonsense.

The thing that actually changed how I bet was the geekier tools. They’ve got an implied probability calculator which shows you the overround, and a kelly staking calculator — I stick to fractional kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. The dutch tool is decent if I’m spreading across selections.

Not all sunshine though. The interface looks a bit basic — no flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it works though the bigger tables are a squeeze. And nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — doesn’t bother me but worth saying.

Right, that’s me. Free, not plastered in adverts, works. Anyone who still adds it up in their head, give it a go — saves me a load of “wait, that’s it?” moments.
