ParticipantPublicSo — been on this thing for maybe a few months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so thought I’d chuck my thoughts in since a mate asked me last week. I’m in the UK, mainly do football and horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.
How I found it was honestly pretty stupid — I couldn’t ever work out what an e/w payout would be with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just eyeball it and get a shock. These days I punch the numbers in first, every time, even the boring singles.
The single bet calculator tool is the bit I use most — you put in your stake, the odds and you get profit and total return instantly, fractions or decimals. There’s also the multiples — doubles and trebles maths, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, and that’s where I always mess it up. If you want a look, it lives at ew odds calculator — free, no signup.
What genuinely made a difference is the nerdier extras. There’s an implied probability thing and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly staking tool — I run quarter kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. Dutching calculator gets used a fair bit when I’m splitting a race.
Couple of gripes. The interface feels a bit basic — zero polish, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it’s usable though the bigger tables are a squeeze. And nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — doesn’t bother me but worth saying.
So yeah. Free, no ads shoved in your face, does what it says. If you even now works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saves me plenty of arguments with the bookie.
