ParticipantPublicOK — been on this thing for about a few months now and I keep coming back, so figured I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me last week. Am UK based, mainly bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.
The reason I started using it was actually pretty stupid — I couldn’t ever get my head round what an e/w payout actually was when the place terms changed. Basically I’d wing it and get a shock. Now punch the numbers in first, every time, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator is the part I’m on daily — type in stake and odds and you get the return with no faffing, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. There’s also the fiddly ones — acca and treble maths, lucky 15s, yankees, which is where I always lose track. Have a go yourself, it’s over at each way odds calculator — free, no signup.
What genuinely changed how I bet was the geekier extras. The odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious what margin’s baked in, plus a kelly staking calculator — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutching one is decent when I’m splitting a race.
Couple of gripes. Its interface feels very functional, let’s say — no polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On my phone it’s usable but the bigger tables are a squeeze. Also there’s no app, just the site — fine by me just flagging it.
Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, does the job. If anyone even now adds it up in their head, give it a go — saved me plenty of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
