ParticipantPublicRight — have been messing about with this thing for about a few months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d say something since a mate asked me the other day. Am in the UK, mostly do football and horses, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.
The reason I started using it was genuinely a bit daft — I could never figure out what an each way return would be with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just wing it and then be surprised. Now I type the odds in before I place anything, even a simple single bet.
Their single bet calculator is the bit I use most — type in stake and odds and it shows profit and total return straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. There’s also the bigger stuff — acca and treble returns, lucky 15s, yankees, which is where most people I know got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it’s here bet calculator heinz and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
The thing that genuinely shifted things for me is the more serious bits. The odds-to-probability thing and it makes obvious what margin’s baked in, and a kelly tool — I use half kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutch tool is decent when I’m spreading across selections.
It’s not perfect mind. The design feels a bit basic — no frills, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it’s fine but the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. Also there’s nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — doesn’t bother me but worth saying.
Anyway. Free, not plastered in adverts, does the job. Anyone who honestly does the maths on paper, try it — it’s saved me a load of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
