OK — have been messing about with this thing for something like five months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so thought I’d write something up since a mate asked me last week. Am based in the UK, generally do football and horses, small stakes, just so you know where I’m coming from.
What got me on it was honestly embarrassing — I could never work out what an each way payout actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just eyeball it and then be surprised. Now type the odds in before I place anything, even the boring singles.
The single bet calculator is the bit I’m on daily — you drop in your stake, the odds and it shows profit and total return instantly, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles returns, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, which is where I always got it wrong. One thing that really shifted things for me was the geekier tools. They’ve got an odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly staking calculator — I stick to fractional kelly since full stakes are terrifying. The dutching one gets used a fair bit when I’m splitting a race.
Not all sunshine though. The interface looks very functional, let’s say — not much frills, it’s clearly function over form. On mobile it’s usable though the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — fine by me just flagging it.
So yeah. Free, barely any ads, works. Anyone who honestly works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — it’s saved me a fair few “wait, that’s it?” moments.
